Allan Cohen

Chief Executive Officer

Allan Cohen is an experienced executive in the insurance industry, with a track record of success in investment, portfolio management, and corporate development. As CEO and Managing Director of Pelican Ventures, a private investment fund focused on start-up and early-stage investments in the (re)insurance industry, Allan oversees the firm’s investment, portfolio management, and operational infrastructure. He is an active board member for Ariel Re, Tango Specialty, and Trium Holdings.

Prior to joining Pelican Ventures, Allan worked at Hamilton Insurance Group, where he served as Vice President, Specialty Reinsurance Underwriter, and managed Hamilton Insurance Group's actuarial function. In this role, he was responsible for establishing the pricing, reserving, and capital management capabilities across the company. Allan also served as a core member of the corporate development team, where he was responsible for due diligence, valuation, and execution of M&A and corporate development transactions.

Before joining Hamilton, Allan worked as a consultant at Towers Watson, providing actuarial consulting services to (re)insurance clients in the US, Bermuda, Europe, and Asia. He began his career in Personal Insurance Product Management at Travelers Insurance in Hartford, CT.

Allan is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS) and a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charter holder. He graduated from Babson College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management.
